New Backdrop: "Bone"

We've got a new backdrop in, and you guys: it's ah-mazing. The colour is called "bone," but don't let the name scare you away! It's light and warm and perfect for setting a bright and airy tone, or letting those darker, richer colours pop.

We've just done our first client session using it and we were not disappointed. The colour theme was blush pink and white, so we wanted to test out something a little bolder while we had it all set up.

Naturally my daughter was a willing model. Okay, maybe I bribed her with an episode or two of Daniel Tiger, but I feel like the means justified the ends in this case. It helps that our little Audball is beginning to actually enjoy hamming it up for the camera -- sometimes. Have you ever heard of "Photographer's Child Syndrome?" Yeah. It's a thing.

Take a look at our test shots below. Can you imagine something similar hanging on your walls at home or at the office? I'd love to help you fill those empty spaces, so reach out to me today!

Emily's Cake Smash Sneak Peek

Yesterday we got to have a ton of fun doing our first Cake Smash session of 2017 and it was so much fun!

For those of you who follow my Instagram account, you may have noticed that I spent Thursday evening tediously hand crafting these gorgeous tissue pom poms just for this session. It may have taken me a few hours to get it all done (I'll blame my exhausted, easily-distracted brain on my two lovely little monsters. Er, I mean "children."), but a glass of pino noir and two-thirds of a box of chocolates later, my pretty pom poms were fluffed and ready to go!

And boy, was it ever worth it. As always! And even better, Mom and Dad got to take the decorations home with them, perfect for the birthday party they will soon be throwing.

I'm in love with this simple setup for a cake smash. Rather than over-doing it with props, we have the baby front-and-centre as the main focus of the session. We don't want to take any attention away from our super star, who was a dream to work with, as usual. What a natural!

It's crazy what a difference one year makes, isn't it? I absolutely loved Mom's idea of having little Emily holding a photo of herself on the day of her birth.

"Hey Mom, good cake!"

Hey Emily, GREAT smile!

"I might just have ooooone more bite, thanks."

Suuuuure, kid. Just one more. That's what I tell myself, too! Chances are you'll only get to do this once, so go to town!

Hmm, wait. Only once? There's no rule to say we can't also do this as adults. I'd be down for a grown-up cake smash session! Any volunteers? DO IT.

Great job, Emily! You destroyed that thing! Like a teeny-tiny Godzilla baby mashing up a sugary city of icing rosebuds. Om nom nom!

And don't forget the clean-up! I know no one wants to put a messy one-year-old back in their carseat all covered in cake crumbs and icing. Because my goodness can you imagine having to clean that?

So at Studio Andronico, we take it to the next level and provide a warm bubble bath at the end of each Cake Smash session! And what bubble bath would be complete without someone blowing even more bubbles across the set?

Yes, that's how we roll.

Once we've gotten some adorable photos of your wonder- and sugar-filled child in their bath, parents can take that opportunity to bathe and dry their child, leaving the rest of the mess to us.
